Today, Swisscom (the first telecommunication network in Switzerland) has activated the UMTS network in the whole country.

In addition to the GSM service, UMTS allows a data transfer rate of up to 384 kB/s. So, it is possible to use video and TV programs. UMTS actually covers 77% of populated area.
